Chiefs, Tribes, Chameleons, & Forever Friends....

One of the highlights of Missionary Renewal is the time our children get to spend in the program designed especially for Missionary Kids (MK's).  The last time we were in Springfield for this program was 5 years ago.  The leaders in each program are called "chiefs".  All of these chiefs are MK's themselves or have a close connection to missions.  Each chief then leads a tribe. A tribe might have anywhere from 1-8 kids.

Five years ago we were blessed to have 3 amazing chiefs for our boys.  We have kept up with them ever since & prayed for them always.  We were so excited that it worked out for us to see all 3 of those special young ladies on our visit to Springfield.  Two of them are now married &one was there preparing to be a missionary.  Isaiah's dear chief Hannah was actually accompanied by her husband Philip as the directors of the Upper Elementary program.  How perfect that this special couple was able to pour into 2 of our boys yet again!
We were also so happy to welcome 3 more chiefs into our family.  It always amazes me at how God places people in our lives at just the right time.  All of our boys were blessed in numerous ways.  They were finally able to understand how they are indeed like chameleons & that being interchangeable & flexible is actually a gift.

It was nice that even Mom & Dad got to see some very special friends too!  As a mom,
I love knowing that I have special "Mom Friends."  Even though we are scattered through out the world, our love & support of each other does not change.  Pictured here is one of my dear friends, Kendra.  She & her family serve as missionaries to the people of Nicaragua.  She is one of the many that prayed us through Chris's accident.  I will never be able to put into words the feelings that I felt inside while standing next to my husband in the emergency room, when my cell phone rang & Kendra was on the other end.  She did not previously have that number, but she didn't give up until she found it.  That my friends is what you call a "Forever Friend".
