So after all of the running we have been doing, my husband has the epiphany that his passport has expired!!! This would not be an issue immediately if he wasn't leaving the country on TUESDAY!!!!!! Chris will be heading back to Venezuela to tie up a few loose ends that we left undone in our whirlwind departure. He is also excited to be hosting a missions trip sponsored by the NC district. He will not be going down alone (I still have him on supervision! ha ha) But I think that this trip will be great for encouraging him. Chris is not a sit around & get better kind of guy so this short change might be just what the doctor ordered!
Oh, but back to the expired passport..... basically, it meant we had to take another ROAD TRIP! The boys stayed at home with Nana to avoid a possible revolt since we just came off of a very long trip. We headed to Atlanta, GA to the passport office. I will say that it was a wonderful trip. It was the first time in a very long time that Chris & I had to be alone without the boys & without the stress of a planned agenda. We only had to drop the passport off & pick it up the next day!
At first I was kicking & screaming at the thought of traveling all of those hours to renew a passport that if we had been more on top of things could have been done by mail! But after I got over myself, I realized that perhaps God was giving us an unplanned opportunity to have a little quality time. So often, parents forget to schedule in those times to be alone. With our life recently, we have missed those opportunities. Usually if the kids are with someone else it is so we can go to a doctor appointment... not what you would call enjoyable! I was reminded to be thankful for those special, unplanned moments that we have with our loved ones. Often those are the memories that we cherish forever.
