What a year this has been! We are just getting started with 2012 & the doctor appointments & surgeries are in full swing! Chris has had quite a few test between Christmas & New Years & on Jan. 5, he welcomed his 5th surgery. This time, on his right hand. Due to an injury that healed improperly from the accident that was causing lots of pain, the surgeon at Duke decided that removing the faulty bone & using a tendon from his forearm to replace it would do the trick! (That's what I would have done :) As with anything, it always sounds good when someone describes how you will feel better... it's the getting there that is often the hard part!
The surgery seems to be healing well. His hand & arm will be in a temporary cast for 2 weeks until the stitches can be removed. Then he will get a lovely hard cast for 4 weeks followed by a removable splint for 2 more weeks. Because of this necessary healing time & upcoming Physical Therapy, we will be taking things very slow. We still have several churches to visit, but taking care of Chris is our top priority. We are so blessed to have so many people loving us & supporting us as we walk this new path. Things are not always like we would have planned, but God is in control & we are so happy to know that in our weakness & confusion, He is stronger & He has a plan!
