We have been home for just over 2 months now. Chris is doing well but he is starting to get a little "fidgety" as most ADHD men would do after taking it easy for so long. I have to keep reminding him that he was "hit by a bus" & that it takes time to recover from this type of accident. But for those of you who know my husband... it will take more than a bus to slow him down. (ha)
We have now officially began our 2nd itineration. This means lots of speaking, traveling, & living out of suitcases. But we are excited that we have this opportunity once again. We always enjoy traveling & meeting so many wonderful people. A plus side to traveling in the states is that we have many little niceties that so often get taken for granted. I decided to list our top 10 favorite things about the "traveling" part of itineration.
1. There is an abundance of exits with clean bathrooms (toilet paper included! :)
2. Starbucks is never far from the interstate & if by some chance they are unavailable... there is always a Dunkin Donuts or McDonalds with yummy coffee beverages to give you that necessary jolt of caffeine!
3. Hotels are always so luxurious (even the Super 8). They even include towels, continental breakfast, & sheets!
4. Food choices are endless. This is critical when Mom & Dad desire something other than McDonalds for anything except the above mentioned coffee.
5. Walmart & Target are always close by when your kid ends up shoe-less on the trip or spills food on their only clean clothes just before a service.
6. Online maps & GPS's really do get you where you are going!
7. A 4 hour trip takes you.... 4 hours. This is a very big deal!
8. Driving is peaceful & smooth. (this is due to our nicely planned out roads & lack of speed bumps every 10 meters)
9. No checkpoints or military personnel line the streets as you travel.
10.There is always a place to check email or get online when you desire to read your favorite missionary's blog! (#shamelessplug)
Regardless of the pros or cons of traveling... we are indeed excited to begin this part of the journey. And we are thankful that our family has the opportunity to do this together.
