Over the past week we had the opportunity to travel to the city of Mérida. Most all of the Venezuelans love to visit this touristic city because the climate is quite a bit cooler. The city is about 8 hours from where we live & is much higher in elevation. We went so that Chris could be involved with the meetings held by the national missions department since he serves as their International Advisor. We had a great time & the change of scenery was a nice change. Our city is currently bathed in posters & signs promoting soon to be elections here the end of the month. It was nice to escape that for a few days. We were blessed to stay in the home of our dear friend Fernanda. She is in the states working on her Masters Degree but her parents opened their home to us & we were blessed by their kindness.
While we were their, Isaiah & I managed to get sick. Thankfully it only lasted about 24 hours. We were still able to squeeze in some school work as well as a trip to the local zoo. The meetings were successful as was our visit. It is always so nice to see different areas of Venezuela. Much like North Carolina, it is truly diverse from beaches to mountains to everything in between. I will admit however, that I am glad to be back home & getting these boys back to normal.
